Our Staff
Our staff are all helpful, friendly and enthusiastic – and they want you to enjoy your experience with us. Khun Kit, our Managing Partner, has over twenty years experience in the catering business and has taught classes in catering colleges. He is committed to delivering the best possible service to our customers and has instituted an ongoing staff training programme to ensure we maintain our high standards. He speaks very good English and will happily help you decide what is the most appropriate dish for your palate.
Our Head Chef, Khun Sombhat, is well known amongst the local Thai community for his superb culinary skills. We pride ourselves on the authenticity of our dishes and Khun Sombhat receives compliments on his cooking every day, from Westerners and Thai people alike. The Thai word for 'delicious' is 'A-roy' - something well worth remembering when you eat at Chailay!
By the way, we have chosen not to apply a service charge although 10% has become the norm on Samui. We feel that you should reward the staff as you feel fit. Although you may have heard that tipping is not a tradition in Thailand (not true), the staff here appreciate Western generosity, especially if you feel your meal or the service has been beyond your expectation. All tips are shared by the staff and nothing is deducted by management.
